ABSTRACT

FORECASTING THE QUANTITY OF DEMAND FOR IRON BUILDING MATERIALS WITH WMA AT UD. RIZKY KEMBAR SHOP

UD. Rizky Kembar is a building materials store that experiences fluctuations in demand, especially for iron, which often causes shortages or stockpiles. Inaccuracy in stock management results in lost sales opportunities and increased storage costs. This study aims to apply the Weighted Moving Average (WMA) method to forecast iron demand more accurately, so that the store can optimize stock availability and improve operational efficiency. This study uses historical iron sales data from January 2024 to December 2024 as the basis for forecasting. The implementation of the WMA method is carried out through the development of a Visual Basic .NET-based system with a MySQL database. Testing was carried out using the Black Box Testing method to ensure the accuracy of the system in forecasting calculations. The results of the study show that the WMA method is able to provide more accurate predictions. With the implementation of this system, UD. Rizky Kembar can avoid shortages or excess stock, reduce storage costs, and increase customer satisfaction. This forecasting system is expected to be an effective solution in managing building materials inventory in the store.
