VISUALIZATION OF ASAHAN DISTRICT POPULATION DATA ON A MAP USING GIS

Geographic Information Systems (GIS) are technologies that integrate spatial and non-spatial data to produce accurate location-based information. This study aims to develop a digital mapping system to visualize population data in Asahan Regency using GIS. The visualized data includes total population, population density, and population distribution by sub-district. The system development method used is the waterfall approach, which includes analysis, design, implementation, and testing phases. The result of this study is a web-based information system capable of displaying population data interactively and geographically. This system can assist local governments, researchers, and the public in understanding population distribution and making region-based decisions. It is also expected to serve as a basis for more effective and targeted development planning.
