CERTAINTY FACTOR METHOD FOR IDENTIFICATION OF DENTAL CARIES IN THE PRACTICE OF DENTIST YUSPA HIDAYATI

In Indonesia, dental disease has become a problem that is quite common and often interferes with daily activities. Late treatment causes the condition of the painful tooth to become worse. There are several factors that cause dental and oral disorders, namely the low level of public awareness in maintaining oral health. Factors that cause irregular visits to dentists are the lack of attention to dental and oral health, consultations that require money to carry out, and long queues are the causes of people rarely having consultations. Dental caries disease generally affects people who rarely have dental care or allow the dirt on their teeth to remain stuck to their teeth. This low level of knowledge about dental disease will result in severe damage to teeth and often makes the initial diagnosis of the disease late, therefore the expert system application is considered very useful to help diagnose dental caries and the staff of an expert doctor. The results of interviews with dentists at one of the clinics, namely the Yuspa Hidayati Doctor's Clinic, revealed that the unequal ability or knowledge of dentists causes doubts in determining the diagnosis, so that sometimes advice is needed. Apart from that, there is also a need for a system that can help dentists, especially dentists, in recommending a diagnosis based on the symptoms experienced by the patient. This recommendation is due to limitations in providing patient care at the Yuspa Hidayati Dentist Practice, so an expert system is needed to diagnose dental caries, so an expert system using the Certainty Factor method is needed for data processing. This method allows a conclusion or diagnosis, even though there is uncertainty about the patient's condition or uncertainty about the rules used to reach the conclusion.
