ABSTRACT
EXPERT SYSTEM FOR DIAGNOSING CATARACT EYE DISEASE USING THE FORWARD CHAINING METHOD

Information technology plays an important role in data processing to produce quality information, especially in the health sector. In this context, expert systems, which are a subfield of artificial intelligence, can help in diagnosing diseases, including cataracts, which are the main cause of visual impairment in Indonesia. With cataract blindness rates reaching record levels, there is an urgent need to develop systems that can provide rapid and accurate diagnosis. This research aims to design an expert system application using the Forward Chaining method, which allows tracing knowledge from existing facts to reach the right conclusions. This research uses a qualitative method which only utilizes data obtained from the research site and inputs it without changing anything. This system will make it easier for patients to diagnose eye diseases, reduce the incidence of cataracts, and increase the accessibility of health information.
