IMPLEMENTATION OF THE K-MEANS ALGORITHM METHOD FOR ROAD DEVELOPMENT OPTIMIZATION AT THE PUBLIC WORKS AND SPATIAL PLANNING OFFICE (PUPR) OF TANJUNGBALAI

The development of information technology has had a significant impact in supporting decision-making processes across various fields, including road infrastructure development. Road damage often becomes a major obstacle in Indonesia, as seen in Tanjungbalai City, where road conditions deteriorate due to increasing traffic volume as well as limitations in planning and maintenance. The determination of road development priorities has so far been carried out manually by the Department of Public Works and Spatial Planning (PUPR) of Tanjungbalai City, taking into account road length, budget allocation, and type of development, which often leads to inefficiency. This study proposes the application of the K-Means Clustering method to classify road development data based on length, budget allocation, and type of development, thereby facilitating a more objective and efficient process of determining development priorities. The results of this research are expected to assist the PUPR Office in optimizing road development strategies, improving budget management effectiveness, and contributing positively to enhancing the quality of road infrastructure in Tanjungbalai City.
