Abstract

The development of information technology has made a significant contribution across various fields, including healthcare. The practice of Dr. Novaily Zuliartha, Sp.A, is a pediatric specialist service located in Kisaran, North Sumatra, providing consultation and treatment services. One of the challenges faced is the limited time available, which often prevents parents from consulting further about their child's condition. Additionally, the similarity of symptoms among different diseases frequently leads to errors in handling, potentially causing delays. This study aims to design an expert system based on the Case-Based Reasoning (CBR) method to assist in diagnosing various pediatric diseases based on symptoms input by users. The system works by matching symptoms with previous cases to provide an initial diagnosis as a reference before consulting a doctor. Based on testing results from ten types of diseases using symptom input data, the highest accuracy rate was achieved for mumps at 76.92%, indicating that the system is fairly accurate in matching symptoms of pediatric diseases.
